AVERY COMPANY SELECTS FASTURTLE® FOR NEW WEBSITE

PHOENIX, Ariz. – August 4, 2011 – Being in real estate demands the understanding of recent public trends and people. When the Avery Company, a California based real estate company, realized their website was not current enough to portray their true professionalism, they hired Fasturtle® to update their web presence.

Avery Company’s recently launched website, www.averycorporate.com, is an example of the FastSite program that Fasturtle® has developed for businesses as turnkey solutions for getting a new website. Fasturtle®’s FastSite program was built specifically for businesses that understand the need of an online presence, but do not necessarily need the extra bells and whistles of a larger scale website. “FastSites are special in the rite that they incorporate the brand of a company while using pre-determined technology to help keep costs down,” says Eric Olsen, CEO of Fasturtle®.

Avery Company worked with Fasturtle® to create a website that is easy to navigate, while at the same time updating their look. The new website also allows for people to easily gather information and contact Avery Company.

About Avery Company
Gary Avery, the founder of Avery Company, has an educational background in mechanical engineering, but he spent his early years in “for sale” commercial real estate. Through the course of listing and selling commercial real estate, Gary was asked to market a United States Post Office property and, at a later date, a senior housing complex with services. The experience achieved by means of marketing and closing these two properties afforded him the ability to launch a business plan to exclusively act as a rainmaker in these two unique industries nationwide.

Fasturtle® hires two new team members!

We are excited to announce the expansion of our Fasturtle® team! After several, should we say “terrible,” interviews for our design internship, we came across one diamond in the rough, Brian Skeet. We have elected to take him under our shell to teach him everything we can about design and the internet marketing business while allowing him the opportunity to fine tune his creativity and programming skills.

In addition to our intern, we have hired a sales supper star, Christine Ostrander. She is sure to rise to the top with her go getter attitude and “won’t take no for an answer” ways. Eric Olsen has personally elected to move forward with extensive training giving her the intricate details of Fasturtle®, ensuring she provides our clients with the legendary customer service we are aiming for.

One final note for those of you out there drudging through the interview process, to avoid a “terrible” interview please, please, please go prepared, know a little about the company, and as if should even need to be said, Dress to Impress, first impressions count for 80% of the process.

Welcome aboard Christine and Brian, we wish you success and good fortune.

10 Social Media Tips and Tactics to engage your audience

1. Twitter followers earned are much sweeter than Twitter followers bought. Anyone can go out and buy a click, but engaging in an actual conversation is much more fulfilling and leads to a loyal following. Buying your following could lead to the dreaded un-follow when they find out your content and tweets are not up to their standards.

2. Write regularly and consistently, people return to your site because your information is fresh, new and exciting.

3. If your readers took the time to read the article you spent so much time writing, they may want to share it as well, make it easy, and always include the Tweet and Facebook Like buttons on your work.

4. Write catchy headlines that grab people’s attention quickly. Make sure they are keyword rich for search engines.

5. Provide subscription buttons such as: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google + so readers can easily follow you and your work.

6. When tweeting your 140 character message, include # tags to deliver it to the group of individuals you want to see the information. Example #leadership or #seo

7. As your following continues to grow on the different social media outlets, be sure to highlight this feat on your company blog, or monthly newsletter. People like being recognized for their efforts and if you show your appreciation to them, you are more likely to continue growing.

8. Run polls using the Facebook Question Feature. Engage and involve your audience for optimal feedback

9. Create a contest or competition on Facebook or Twitter for your followers.

10. Respond, Respond, Respond!! Always make an effort to reply to mentions on twitter or comments posted by fans on Facebook. Show you are engaged and appreciate that they are taking the time read what you have to say.

NEW WEBSITE POISED TO CHANGE THE FACE OF BUSINESS COMMUNICATION

PHOENIX, Ariz. – April 26, 2011 – Bringing community together is the idea behind one company’s new website, www.JustGoPhoenix.com. Though it seems our world cannot possibly get any closer than it already is; the online community has yet to tap into the true heartbeat of the business community in a way that speaks directly from an industry standpoint. In the age of self-promotion, blogs and press releases are the most affordable and easiest way to get substantial information to the masses. According to Eric Olsen, CEO of Fasturtle®, there are two problems with this. “One, press releases are at the mercy of editors. Two, blogs are only available if you know what site they are connected to or if you are looking for a specific topic.”

In response to this, the Arizona based company, Fasturtle®, created a website to eliminate these problems. Specific to B2B or B2C, JustGoPhoenix.com is the city’s way of finding out what is going on in targeted industries. “I am excited to be a part of something which exemplifies freedom of speech that will create a way for companies to publish information unedited by outside parties,” says Olsen. The site is also designed as a resource for people that might be relocating who wouldn’t otherwise know the industry trends of a new city. By referring to the site, they can pool information about a specific industry instead of having to search for each individual company.

In addition, job listings are featured to counteract the struggle and cost of finding qualified employees. In his own search for valuable employees, Olsen found that his choices for affordable listings were slim and wanted to provide an alternative to the big employment sites and niche job listing sites.

Currently, Phoenix is the test market for the site, with plans to expand to the top 25 cities in the United States. Each city will have a minimum of 30 blogs ranging in topics anywhere from Automotive to Fashion to Medicine. With enthusiasm from the Scottsdale Chamber of Commerce and positive feedback from companies that are currently posting, Fasturtle® plans to promote JustGoPhoenix.com as a rich new source of business information within our communities with the theme of “Your City, Your Business, Your Voice.”

5 Facebook blunders to avoid for a successful page

With Facebook growing into a social media giant, small businesses are beginning to harness its awesome power. Many businesses however are making vital marketing errors that affect their Fan Base, and overall online social presence. Here are 5 common mistakes to avoid.

Blunder #1-Broadcasting

Facebook is about authenticity, innovation and creative posts, so if you are not engaging with customers in a way that makes it feel genuine then there is a good possibility you will see a slow in engagement. Remember, potential customers go to Facebook to make a connection or feel like they are part of a community, not to be blasted with useless generic information.

Blunder #2- Not Investing Time

Underestimating the time it takes to create a successful Facebook strategy could result in a relationship collapse, not only with new Fans but with pre-existing Fans who have come to expect timely responses to their posts and queries. Unlike traditional advertising, Facebook is not a “set it and forget it” tool, it needs to be updated and monitored continuously.

Blunder #3- Being Boring and Predictable

Think about what kind of content your fans would find interesting, funny or useful with planning a post. Use a wide range of media including, status updates, photos, videos, and multimedia. Creating filler content by auto- publishing from a blog or twitter can also damage your efforts. With Facebook’s recent change to publish items in a news feed on a priority system, automated posts are usually at the bottom and may never be seen by your fans.

Blunder #4-Failure to Learn Facebook Mechanics and Tools

Explore all of Facebook’s functionality and create a custom welcome page for your fans. Be aware of your profile image. Most companies upload a version of their logo, but the resulting thumbnail image that shows up in news feeds is only a portion of your profile image capturing a few letters in the middle of their logo. This partial image will be how your Fan’s see your brand in their news feed. Using Facebook Insights to see what content receives the most engagement is a great tool to optimize your future posts.

Blunder#5- Violating Facebook’s Terms

Many businesses are building a community on a personal page instead of a proper Facebook business page; others fail to abide by Facebook’s rules about running contests. Another area to be cautious of is Tagging an image you may not have permission to tag. Tagging people to get their attention is a violation of Facebook rules and will leave your site open to review and possible shut down.

To avoid these mistakes, take time to learn about Facebook, educate yourself on how to build and sustain an audience and engage with your Fans just like you would in real life. That is what sets a small business apart from a large corporation, its ability to actively engage with customers.

The Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing Wants to Be Your Friend

The last time you fed the chickens on Farmville, sent someone an iHeart, or played Mafia Wars, I’m sure the last thing on your mind was an internet tracking company. Unfortunately, that is exactly what those companies were betting on. But now the whistle is being blown by the Wall Street Journal in a recent investigation outlined by Emily Steel and Geoffrey A Fowler. According to the article on WSJ.com, many of the most popular applications, or “apps,” on Facebook have been transmitting identifying information—in other words, providing access to people’s names and, in some cases, their friends’ names—to dozens of advertising and Internet tracking companies. The top 10 culprits include the afore mentioned, plus FrontierVille, Phrases, Texas HoldEm, Causes, Café World, Quiz Planet and Treasure Isle.

This breach of privacy affects tens of millions of Facebook users, including those that have set their privacy to the strictest settings. For the people with private profiles, the tracking companies can only access a person’s name through their Facebook ID, a building block of the software. However, open profiles can provide information such as age, residence, occupation and photos – plenty of information for even the most basic marketing plans. Though most of the apps were not created by Facebook, and this is something that breaks Facebook rules, it raises the question about whether or not Facebook can keep its virtual mouth shut.

It is still unclear about how long this has been going on or even whether or not the companies knew they were doing it, but the reality is – anything with access to 500 million people is going to become a target. Facebook has apparently shut down any app that the Journal found to be transmitting user IDs and is taking strides to correct the issue. But this is where common sense might need to kick in. Set your profile to private, be careful with ads and decide if your identity is more important than feeding the chickens.

Here at Fasturtle®, we feel very strongly about security and we would be happy to send you our Privacy Policy if you have any concerns.

SOCIAL MEDIA COULD CHANGE THE SEARCH ENGINE GAME ONCE AND FOR ALL

If you ever thought there was any chance of Facebook ever going away – think again. In an article from WebProNews.com, Rich Ord reveals that Microsoft is upping the ante when it comes to the search engine game. Since they have yet to compete on a traditional level, Microsoft is betting on the social power of Facebook for its own search engine, Bing. Having an ownership stake in Facebook, they have created a new product called Bing Social.

Until now, Google has muscled its way to the top with sheer domination of everything searchable. This is due to the use of a method called PageRank. In the most basic of terms, the method is what made search results more relevant to the user. Since Google found a better way to give people what they want, that is what people chose to use. Microsoft has chosen to combat this by adding into the mix the personal touch that Google does not provide. Bing Social will officially integrate information from reviews, photos and likes that your own personal Facebook network has posted. This is regarded as “instant personalization” that will create a search for each individual. According to the article, your Bing search results will actually be different depending on what your network of friends link to, like or dislike or review This will eventually include seeing who “liked” or “disliked” a particular link, being able to add and confirm data on Facebook and create a better non-celebrity search.

Clearly, this will have a huge impact on SEO as search engine marketers will have to rethink their strategy. But with change comes opportunity, so who knows where this will take us in 2011. Consumers will always choose what works best for them, so time will tell who will come out on top. As for Fasturtle®, we plan on monitoring this trend and seeing where it will take SEO as it pertains to our industry. Either way, we plan on staying as our client’s go-to for Search Engine Optimization no matter who is leading the race.

Question of the day: Do you want your friends determining your search results?
